Nexium is the generic name for esomeprazole. It belongs to a class of drugs known as proton pump inhibitors (PPIs).

When a patient takes Nexium, they need to take it for a certain period of time before they start to experience symptoms of BPH. The symptoms of BPH may last from 4-6 weeks. This usually helps relieve some of the symptoms.
